You’ve probably enjoyed the refreshing zing of adding a slice of lemon to your water. Lemon water aids the liver and alkalizes the body. Its incredible! But did you know there are so many other ‘vitamin waters’ out there to enjoy? And NO I’m not talking about the chemical laced, pre-packaged vitamin waters you find at the store.

I’m talking about colorful, bright, beautiful, nutrient-rich detox water you can make right in your own home! We know that each fruit and vegetable has unique properties that help support our health and well-being. So why not get a variety of these powerhouse foods in your water?

Ideally we want to drink around 3 liters of water per day. This varies based on the time of year, how active you are and your height/weight. In the summer months consuming enough water is very important. Dehydration is very dangerous and often we don’t know we require more water because we’ve trained our body to survive on less. Rather than wait until you’re thirsty and drink a full liter at once, we recommend sipping on water throughout the day (away from meal time).

Dehydration can lead to weight gain, bladder/kidney problems, digestive disorders, constipation, skin disorders, rapid aging, asthma, joint/muscle pain and fatigue.

Unfortunately we’ll often see people reaching for things like juice, pop, and alcoholic beverages when they are thirsty (especially in the summertime). This furthers the dehydration issue and increases the amount of sugar-based calories a person is consuming … ultimately leading to poor body function and weight gain.

Strawberry Mint With A Zing
1/2 Cup Strawberries, sliced thin
1 Orange, chopped into half moons
1/8 Cup Mint, full leaves
dash of sea salt

Raspberry, Lime & Cucumber Blast
1/2 Cup Raspberries, whole or muddled
1 Lime, chopped into half moons
1/2 Cup Cucumber, chopped into half moons

Grapefruit Cucumber For A Happy Belly
1/2 Grapefruit, cut into half moons
